Grammy Award for Song of the Year 2024

Who Should Take Home the Grammy for Record of the Year in 2024? Cast your ballot!

In this loaded category, songs including “Kill Bill” by SZA, “Anti-Hero” by Taylor Swift, “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus, “Vampires” by Olivia Rodrigo, and more all compete.

One of the most star-studded categories at Sunday’s (February 4, 2024) Grammy Awards is record of the year; who do you think should win?

Five past Grammy winners are included in the mix: Taylor Swift won 12 times with “Anti-Hero,” Billie Eilish won seven times with “What Was I Made For?” from the Barbie soundtrack, Jon Batiste won five times with “Worship,” Olivia Rodrigo won three times with “Vampire,” and SZA won once with “Kill Bill.” SZA won best pop duo/group performance with Doja Cat in 2022 with “Kiss Me More,” and she is the most nominated artist this year with nine.

Next, we have three artists who could win for the first time: Miley Cyrus with “Flowers,” Victoria Monét with “On My Mama,” and boygenius (the group consisting of Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus) with “Not Strong Enough.”

The Recording Academy states that the “artist(s), producer(s), and engineer(s) involved in crafting the specific recording of a song” are eligible to win the Grammy for record of the year. If this is the case, the artists who are listed will be recognized alongside the people who worked behind the scenes to create the song.

The song “About Damn Time” by Lizzo won the category last year. It beat out ten other strong entries, including Adele’s “Easy On Me,” Beyoncé’s “Break My Soul,” and Harry Styles’ “As It Was.”

Grammy Awards 2024: Distinctions Between Album, Song, and Record of the Year

As you watch the 2024 Grammy Awards, you might be curious about the distinctions between Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Record of the Year.

In case you are unaware, the complete explanation is available here!

Both the song’s performer and the recording engineers who worked on its creation are given the Record of the Year honor. The song’s production and performance are highlighted in the Record of the Year.

However, Song of the Year is given to the song’s author rather than the performer.

The musician used to win Album of the Year, but today producers, sound engineers, mixers, and songwriters also win.
